Fortnite’s Percy Jackson Island Feels Like a Standalone Game

A new season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians arrives on Disney+ on Dec. 10, 2025. Ahead of that debut, the show has been adapted into a playable island in Fortnite. Unlike many promotional islands that feel thin and disposable, Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters manages to deliver a substantive, replayable experience.

The island, which went live on Dec. 9, 2025, places you at Camp Half-Blood where every player is assigned a divine parent. From there you undergo training—unlocking powers, mastering weapons, and learning combat techniques. The adventure culminates in three boss encounters that are especially satisfying when tackled with friends.

I came to the island with limited familiarity with the franchise—I’ve watched only a single episode of the series and haven’t read the books—but Siege of Monsters does an excellent job of onboarding newcomers. Characters from the show appear across the map to deliver concise exposition and useful gameplay hints. That guidance is handy when you’re squaring off against, say, a minotaur in its underwear — yes, it’s as ridiculous as it sounds, and the encounter is more tactical than it looks.

Mechanically, the island uses Fortnite’s established systems. You’ll wield melee and ranged weapons, upgrade gear, and rely on shield potions and medkits to stay in the fight. Everything is purchased with drachmas, the island’s currency, which you can earn by completing activities and looting chests scattered through the map. Drachmas accumulate quickly, making it easy to experiment with different loadouts and unlockables.

One mission leans heavily on Fortnite’s mantling and traversal systems: a towering, volcanic climb inspired by the fiery mountain seen in the show. The ascent is tense and technically demanding, featuring narrow platforms, precarious leaps, and a molten chasm below that punishes mistakes—expect to fall a few times before you learn the route.

For franchise aficionados, there are more rewards: the developers pepper the island with familiar faces and little Easter eggs that expand beyond the series’ principal cast. Everything builds toward an impressive, cinematic showdown with Scylla and Charybdis—the monstrous duo teased in season 2 of the show.

The main disappointment is that the island’s cosmetic items haven’t been added to Fortnite’s item shop—at least not yet. The Percy and companion skins are well-executed and would likely be popular in Battle Royale, so it’s a shame they aren’t widely available. For now, the best way to experience them is to play the island itself.

Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters is playable in Fortnite now (island released Dec. 9, 2025). Use island code: 9135-6797-0922. The TV series premieres on Disney+ on Dec. 10, 2025.
