First still from the film “The Luckiest Girl Alive” featuring Kate and Rooney Mara released
A fresh still has been unveiled from Werner Herzog’s upcoming feature, “Bucking Fastard,” starring sisters Kate and Rooney Mara. The image captures the actresses embodying the twin protagonists, Jean and Joan Holbrook. The release coincides with the film’s highly anticipated premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
The narrative centers on the sisters’ uncanny, symbiotic bond—they speak in unison, share the same dreams, and find themselves infatuated with the same man. Bound by their own idiosyncratic logic, Jean and Joan embark on a quest to locate a mythical land where true love purportedly exists. Their journey leads them to carve a tunnel through a massive mountain range, with a cavernous site serving as the backdrop for some of Herzog’s most ambitious sequences.
The film’s ensemble cast also features performances by Orlando Bloom and Domhnall Gleeson.
