First Trailer Released for Jim Caviezel Action-Thriller Ghost Soldier

Fans of anti-corporate action thrillers like Jason Statham‘s The Beekeeper have a new title to watch. The first trailer for Ghost Soldier combines Statham-style combat with high-tech military gear reminiscent of Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Jim Caviezel leads the cast as the central protagonist, dispensing righteous fury against corporate operatives.

Caviezel, widely recognized for his roles in The Passion of the Christ and Sound of Freedom, steps into the action genre equipped with futuristic stealth cloaking technology instead of turning the other cheek. The trailer still incorporates nods to his religious background, featuring a moment where he calmly delivers the line, “God will judge our enemies, I’ll just arrange the meeting.”

The story follows a proven revenge formula seen in films like John Wick, The Beekeeper, Nobody, and The Equalizer. A character played by Shea Whigham describes Caviezel’s Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald as an “old-school green beret with advanced military training.” The plot centers on Brownstone Interworks, a Bahraini-owned conglomerate attempting to seize local land by any means necessary. Hired agents violently threaten the residents, including the family of a deceased American military veteran, underestimating the resistance Fitz will provide.

Sony Pictures describes Fitz as “a solitary man with a mysterious past, living a quiet life off the grid in his hometown.” The studio synopsis details the conflict:

When a powerful foreign corporation descends on his community determined to seize his and his neighbors’ land for a massive payday, Fitz takes action — he’s actually a former Special Forces soldier and advanced weapons developer. Armed with weapons no one has ever seen, a lifetime of lethal military training, and an unwavering code of justice, Fitz becomes the one thing his enemies never anticipated: a one-man war they can’t win.

Fitz brings an extensive arsenal to the conflict, using sniper rifles, explosives, bows, and stealth tech reminiscent of Splinter Cell. Along with cloaking devices and glowing night-vision gear, he delivers lines such as “Corporate tyranny is still tyranny.” The film has received a PG-13 rating.

William Eubank, who previously directed Underwater and Land of Bad, directed the movie from a screenplay written by Chris Papasadero. Alongside Caviezel and Whigham, the cast features Olivia Thirlby (Dredd), Beau Knapp (Tulsa King), and Garret Dillahunt, who can also be seen currently riding a horse in HBO’s Lanterns.
