In the world of Westeros there’s room not only for blood and politics, but also for laughter.
HBO has unveiled the final trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms — the new Game of Thrones spinoff based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas. From the footage, the show appears to balance intrigue and tragedy with friendship, comedic moments, and lively chemistry between its characters. Though the tone is warmer and lighter, the series still confronts darker themes: the trailer includes battles and political strife, but the emotional core is a more intimate tale of two companions traveling across Westeros.
The project adapts the Dunk and Egg novellas, which take place roughly a century before the original series. At the story’s heart are the wandering knight Duncan — known as Dunk (Peter Claffey) — and his young squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), who hides a noble background. Together they roam the realm, enter tournaments, and inevitably become entangled in the machinations of the great houses.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premieres on January 18, 2026. The first season adapts the novella “The Hedge Knight,” and HBO has already renewed the series for a second season.
