Fans Speculate Adria Arjona May Play DCU Wonder Woman

When James Gunn cast Adria Arjona from Andor and Morbius for the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, reports suggested the actor would play a relatively obscure DC character named Maxima. However, some DC fans have long speculated that Adria Arjona was secretly cast as Wonder Woman. A recent video featuring Adria Arjona reignited those rumors as the actor detailed her intense workout regimen to prepare for the recently released Onslaught and Man of Tomorrow.

Adria Arjona avoids revealing which DC character she plays in the video. That secrecy has intensified speculation that audiences already know who the next Wonder Woman will be.

In a published video from Women’s Health, Adria Arjona walks viewers through a boxing and weightlifting routine. “I’m enjoying the transformation, but it’s hard work,” Adria Arjona says in the video. “I’ve never felt stronger, but it’s hard. The excitement of playing the woman I’m playing gives me everything I need to wake up. Physically, it’s exhausting, but it’s all for the greater good.”

Fans interpret these comments as evidence that Adria Arjona will portray the DCU Wonder Woman. Supporters argue she would not show such high enthusiasm for playing Maxima, an obscure figure who inspired numerous internet articles asking who the character is.

If Adria Arjona appears as Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow, she might experience a situation similar to actor Sadie Sink dodging questions about her mystery role as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Whether Adria Arjona faces months of questioning about her DCU debut remains uncertain. Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters on July 9, 2027.

James Gunn and DC Studios are also reportedly developing a stand-alone Wonder Woman movie. Ana Nogueira, who wrote Supergirl, is reportedly writing the script for that project.

Should Man of Tomorrow introduce the DCU Wonder Woman first, Adria Arjona would succeed Gal Gadot as the live-action Amazon. Earlier screen iterations of Wonder Woman include Cathy Lee Crosby in the 1974 television film Wonder Woman and Lynda Carter in the 1975 television series of the same name.

Man of Tomorrow features returning stars David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Other returning cast members from Superman include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl. New additions to the cast include Aaron Pierre from Lanterns and Rebel Ridge as John Stewart and Green Lantern, alongside Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, and Sinqua Walls in unspecified roles.
