Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.58: what the open beta tested

SCS Software opened the Euro Truck Simulator 2 version 1.58 public beta on January 29, 2026. It tested a new Driving Academy module, refreshed trucks, revised vehicle physics, coach-related map work and a broad interface redesign. The beta ended when update 1.58 was released on February 12.

Driving Academy and vehicle updates

Double Trailer Handling added three chapters that teach forward driving, manoeuvring and reversing with two trailers. Completing its scenarios rewards the Frankie cabin toy. The required three-star scenarios for the earlier Nerd of the Road achievement were reduced from 23 to 15.

The beta also introduced new interiors, camera mirrors and DE13 Turbo Compound engines for the Renault Trucks T, more customisation for Scania R and S, and a steerable, liftable middle axle on the IVECO S-Way 6×2.

Physics, maps and interface

Vehicle response was revised with a throttle torque map, more natural engine resistance, suspension camber and caster behaviour, improved turbo audio and a hill-start assistant. An optional keyboard control allowed a held key to apply partial throttle and a double tap to request full acceleration.

Selected cities received signs, road markings and bus terminals in preparation for Coaches. Version 1.58 also tested contextual tutorial hints, a widget-based Route Advisor, the Quick Info pause screen and refinements to management and configurator screens.

Stable update 1.58 replaced the public beta

The public_beta instructions and warnings applied before update 1.58 reached the stable branch. Steam’s default branch now distributes the stable version; switching branches can still require compatible mods and profiles.
