Esper Locations in Final Fantasy Resonance

Comment Views: 1

Final Fantasy Resonance hands Fina a powerful advantage in battle through its Espers. They can also serve as handy decoys, drawing enemy attacks away from the rest of your party. Whichever way you use them, they’re well worth the MP it takes to call them forth. Getting them takes some effort. Espers are hidden in various corners of the world, and you’ll need to track each one down, and usually defeat it, before Fina can wield its power.

Below, you’ll find every Esper location in Final Fantasy Resonance, along with instructions for recruiting each one.

[Editor’s note: This guide is still a work in progress, since we’re verifying the requirements for the final Esper. We’ll update it as soon as we can confirm them.]

How Espers work in Final Fantasy Resonance

Espers resemble the classic Final Fantasy summons, yet they work a little differently. Fina is the only party member able to call them, and every summon drains a set amount of MP. An Esper stays on the battlefield until it has acted three times. Your support spells will still affect it, but you have no control over its actions. On each turn it picks a different move from its repertoire, then departs with its most powerful skill. You can’t choose which ability it uses, nor which enemy it targets.

Once the Esper disappears, Fina can summon it again on her following turn, and she can keep doing so until her MP runs dry. MP is the only limiting factor. There’s no charge gauge or cooldown timer governing how frequently an Esper can appear.

Esper locations in Final Fantasy Resonance

Espers generally dwell in caves or dungeons, and you can usually learn where they are by talking to townsfolk. Anyone with an exclamation mark above their head has something useful to share. That information is then added to the world map, so you can pull it up and check the Esper’s whereabouts whenever you like.

That’s a good thing, because a few of the Espers you must battle are tougher than the story bosses you face in the same chapter. If a fight is giving you trouble, you can simply walk away and return once you’ve gained a few levels. The Esper will wait for you.

How to recruit

Siren

Rain stands outside of Siren's Tower in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 1

Siren is a mandatory boss, so you can’t miss her. She joins your side once you’ve defeated her in combat.

Ramuh

Rain approaches a cave in the mountains, which also leads to Mt. Thunderclap in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 2

Ramuh waits at the summit of Mt. Thunderclap in Dirnado. Enter through the entrance east of Zidane’s shrine, then defeat him in battle. He is level 20 and weak only to earth.

Carbuncle

Rain approaches a cave behind a dense area of trees in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 3

Read the riddle inscribed on the tablet in Ruby Cave. To win over Carbuncle, you must locate three items on the world map in a particular sequence. Thankfully, the game marks their positions on the mini-map, and they can only be collected in the proper order.

Ifrit

An airship outside of a smoking volcano in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 5

Once the airship is yours, fly into this volcano to face Ifrit. You may hear the rumor about him before you’re able to reach him. Fittingly for a fire-based summon, he is weak to water, and he’s level 33.

Titan

Rain examines a rock with a bunch of sealing stakes driven into it in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 5

You’ll hear about Titan in Kol, well before you’re able to reach him. He resides inside the enormous boulder east of Siren’s tower. The rock can only be shattered after you clear the first round of gladiator trials in Grandshelt during Chapter 5, which rewards Lid with a new hammer she then uses to split it open.

Titan awaits you once the rock breaks. He is level 30 and weak to wind.

Leviathan

Rain approaches Nichol with a side quest marker over his head in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 5

After the airship becomes available, Nichol offers a side quest in Olderion called “Nichol’s Duty.” Finish it to unlock Leviathan.

Shiva

A map of Mysidia showing where to find Shiva in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 5

You can reach this ice queen once you’ve discovered Mysidia. She’s hidden within a snowstorm on the southern island. You’ll have to defeat her in battle, and she’s weak to fire.

Odin

Rain approaches a dark cave in Final Fantasy Resonance

Chapter 6

After Fina learns Holy, travel east in Gronoa to the Bladerain Stele cave and examine the tablet to begin this quest. Along the way, you’ll have to battle Odin, who is level 45 and weak to electricity.
