An industry insider has revealed that the launch of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was significantly pushed back because the development team pivoted to making the title a next-gen exclusive with a completely overhauled visual style.
When Dragon Ball Project: Age 1000 was first unveiled a few weeks ago, the community immediately suspected it was a codename for Xenoverse 3. This theory gained major traction after Bandai Namco inadvertently added the Age 1000 trailer to a YouTube playlist specifically designated for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.
According to details shared by insider Sofian Le GEEK, the third installment was originally intended to be a modest graphical improvement over its predecessor. However, the developers eventually decided to rebuild the art assets from the ground up to achieve a more modern look. This shift in creative direction led to substantial delays and the decision to scrap the PS4 and Xbox One versions in favor of focusing entirely on current-gen hardware.
Reports indicate that Xenoverse 3 will feature both robust online functionality and a dedicated single-player campaign. While the game will honor the legacy of the previous entries, it aims to deliver the “Age 1000” visual fidelity—striving for characters that feel vibrant and alive rather than resembling static action figures.
