Teaser released for Expelled from Paradise visual novel sequel The Stellar Angel
Toei Animation and developer Studio51 have unveiled a teaser trailer and release date for Expelled from Paradise: The Stellar Angel, an upcoming visual novel sequel to the 2014 anime film. The game is scheduled to launch on November 26, 2026, for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.
Set after the events of the original movie, the story takes place in the year 2400. Angela Balzac has abandoned the virtual world of DEVA and lives on Earth’s surface alongside Dingo. A new organism known as paraflora begins spreading across the planet, bringing giant worms into contaminated areas. Traces of the threat lead to Svarga, a desert city abandoned after an epidemic, where a DEVA agent has fled after stealing a classified “Grey Goo” file containing data on a nanohazard.

The visual novel incorporates a choice mechanic called the K2 system, which shapes Angela’s emotional progression. Player decisions influence the narrative path and unlock multiple endings, including irreversible conclusions.
Writer Shotaro Teshirogi, who previously penned the prequel novel Expelled from Paradise: mission.0, outlined his goals for the project:
“My goal was to create a story that allows you to fully immerse yourself in a pure sci-fi adventure. I sincerely hope you enjoy it.”
In addition to the visual novel, Toei Animation is producing a full-length theatrical anime sequel titled Expelled from Paradise: Resonance. The film centers on a DEVA agent mission on Earth involving a deserter faction known as “The Fallen” and Angela’s rebellion. The movie is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on November 13, 2026, roughly two weeks before the game arrives.
