Justin Marks, the creator of the historical drama “Shogun,” says the next season will probe ideas of love and the price paid by those who take part in war. He also indicated the series will expand considerably in scale — not only in its visual style but in its thematic reach.
Marks has promised spectacular battle sequences and heartrending tragedies designed to captivate the imagination.
The second season is set a decade after the events of the first. The writers aim to reveal how the lives of the principal characters — played by Cosmo Jarvis, Fumi Nikaidō, Shinnosuke Abe, Hiroto Kanai and others — have evolved over that time. New additions to the cast include Kaneta Shō, Takaaki Enoki, Jun Kunimura, Asami Mizukawa and Masataka Kubota.
Filming is scheduled to begin soon in Canada.
