Details Emerge for Ghost Rider Project Starring Ryan Gosling
A production document for the Ghost Rider movie starring Ryan Gosling has surfaced online, hinting that the actor will inherit the role from Nicolas Cage, though there is a catch.
According to the preliminary plot description, the main character will be Johnny Blaze, whose seemingly idyllic life gradually turns into a nightmare:
“Johnny Blaze has an ideal life: a wife and two children, a job at an auto repair shop, and the support of the small-town residents… But Johnny himself does not feel well. Monsters appear to him in his dreams, and bloody visions haunt him in reality. This life begins to resemble a prison. And inside him, there is a spirit that is desperately begging to get out.”

The description would seem to confirm that Gosling will play the most famous Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, who was previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage. However, the text is a verbatim copy of the synopsis for the first issue of the comic book by Benjamin Percy and Cory Smith, which was released in 2022.
As Murphy’s Multiverse notes, production directories often use such descriptions as temporary placeholders until an official synopsis is released. Therefore, it cannot yet be stated definitively that the creators are adapting this specific story.
Shawn Levy will direct the film, and Jonathan Tropper will write the screenplay. The premiere is scheduled for 2028.
