Nearly three decades after their iconic turn in Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers, Denise Richards and Casper Van Dien are gracing the screen together once again. The duo, best remembered for their roles as Carmen Ibanez and Johnny Rico, have officially wrapped production on the thriller No Free Lunch, which was filmed on location in Hamilton, Canada.

The film follows a mother and daughter whose trip to visit a college campus descends into a nightmare when they are abducted by a disgraced surgeon. The captor forces them to endure a series of sadistic trials, with the chilling objective of marrying one of his hostages. Richards and Van Dien portray the law enforcement officers tasked with tracking down the victims, working against the clock with very few leads.

The supporting cast features Arcadia Kendal, Lara Daans, and Sebastian Pigott, with Damian Lee serving as director.

Released in 1997, Starship Troopers evolved from a polarizing sci-fi action flick into a celebrated cult classic, renowned for its biting satire of militarism and propaganda. Richards and Van Dien starred as fresh-faced soldiers navigating a high-stakes romance amidst an interstellar war against hostile arachnids.

The project is slated for release in the spring of 2027.
