The Paramount and Warner Bros. merger is moving forward, bringing the first details about how this $110 billion deal will function. Paramount CEO David Ellison announced on Oct. 2 that the combined company will be named Skydance. Ellison wrote on X that the team wanted a name that provides an independent identity while keeping Paramount, Warner Bros., and all associated brands in the spotlight.

Following the merger announcement, Deadline shared information regarding the future of DC Studios, the superhero division under Warner Bros.

James Gunn and Peter Safran will remain in their leadership roles at DC Studios following a positive meeting with Ellison. Current plans indicate no major disruptions for DC movies and television series.

What is DC Studios currently working on?

James Gunn directs Man of Tomorrow, a sequel to the 2025 film Superman. Production wrapped in August, and the movie arrives in theaters on July 9, 2027. Two films have launched within the DC Universe so far. Superman earned $619.7 million, ranking among Warner Bros.’ top-grossing releases of 2025. Supergirl followed earlier this year, grossing $126.4 million at the box office. The DC Universe continues with Clayface, a lower-budget horror project written by Mike Flanagan and scheduled for release on Oct. 23.

Additional projects in development include Andy Muschietti’s Batman film The Brave and the Bold, James Mangold’s Swamp Thing, and an untitled Wonder Woman movie. Television output from the DC Universe includes Creature Commandos, Peacemaker, and Lanterns.

Observer concerns persist regarding the merger and the entertainment industry consolidation, particularly given the Ellison family’s close ties to the Trump administration.
