DayZ Badlands Expansion Gets Release Date, Largest Map, and New Mechanics

Bohemia Interactive has released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming DayZ Badlands expansion, revealing fresh details and the launch date for the desert-themed content.

The Badlands expansion introduces the largest official map in DayZ history, covering 267 square kilometers of arid territory. Within the game world lore, this desert region is situated west of Chernarus.

Survivors in Badlands will have to navigate a dry climate and severe drought. The expansion also adds new types of infected and introduces a Rebuilding mechanic that enables players to repair or barricade specific buildings.

The studio has prepared region-specific gear and survival items to match the environment:

Your thirst will not be easy to quench, neither with the waterless land nor with the few wells that survived the war. However, you will not remain defenseless in this scorching heat. You will be able to adapt using clothing, items, and firearms typical of this region.

Players can wishlist the DayZ Badlands DLC on Steam. The release is set for October 15, although the official store page has not yet been updated and still shows a general 2026 launch window.
