Dark RPG Dubbed ‘Polish Gothic’ Launches on Steam
Polish indie developer has released the dark role-playing game Ashes of Kardoria on PC via Steam, featuring authentic Polish voice acting.
Ahead of release, several players drew comparisons between the project and the cult classic Gothic. The story takes place on a “cruel island” gripped by plague, famine, and an encroaching orc threat. Players must hone their skills, align with one of the local factions, and confront surrounding dangers.
The creator emphasizes that Ashes of Kardoria is not “a story about becoming a hero.” There are no “right” answers, only the direct consequences of player decisions. As the plague spreads and resources dwindle, rising friction pushes the factions toward war while the orc menace expands every day.
Ashes of Kardoria offers diverse character progression options and multiple combat styles. Players can wield one-handed weapons, two-handed weapons, or a weapon paired with a shield, alongside ranged bow combat. An alchemy system also allows players to craft potions and tinctures to gain tactical advantages in combat.

The game is currently available on Steam, though it does not yet have enough user reviews to establish an official rating score. The developer opted not to include a launch discount.
