Dan Abnett’s novel “Hive” to reach Warhammer 40,000 fans in 2026

By the end of 2026, readers will have the chance to descend once more into the grim darkness of Warhammer 40,000. Renowned author Dan Abnett, in collaboration with Black Library, is set to return to the Imperial city of Sacramentus in his upcoming two-volume novel, *Hive*.

Games Workshop and Black Library have officially pulled back the curtain on *Hive*, an ambitious new narrative from the celebrated British writer Dan Abnett, which will be released as a sprawling two-part epic.

The previous Planetary Governor has been brought down by a web of scandal and betrayal. Now, the city suffocates under the oppressive weight of Imperial rule, while Adeptus Arbites patrols vigilantly enforce the Lex Imperialis with cold, pitiless efficiency.

A freshly appointed successor must navigate a gauntlet of challenges—exacerbated by his status as an outsider in this brutal, dogmatic metropolis—just as murmurs of a burgeoning uprising begin to reach the gilded spires of the upper hive.

Who are the agitators sowing the seeds of anarchy within the slums of Sacramentus? Will they manage to topple the new governor’s administration before it can solidify its power? And is there an even darker, more primordial threat lurking in the depths?

*Hive* is currently slated for release in late 2026. Fans can expect more comprehensive details regarding this two-book set in the future.
