Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Release Date Announced in New Trailer
Netflix shared a new trailer, teaser images, and an official release date for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 during Anime NYC. The upcoming series from Studio Trigger serves as the follow-up to the studio’s 2022 sci-fi tragedy and will debut on Netflix on Oct. 20, 2026.
The new trailer highlights four central characters navigating the dystopian streets of Night City: Roman Carax, Weak “King” Kingsley, D, and Talia Yang. Carax, an analog film enthusiast, documents the downward spirals of those around him through his camera lens. King, a legendary edgerunner battling the effects of cyberpsychosis, laments losing control while speaking to a hospitalized Talia. The footage also introduces D, a netrunner driven by vengeance whom Carax characterizes as the living embodiment of grief.

The trailer indicates that Edgerunners 2 will unfold through Carax’s recordings as he captures the collapse of his peers.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 was originally announced in July at Anime Expo 2025. The 10-episode project tells a standalone story featuring a brand-new cast, returning once more to the Night City backdrop established in CD Projekt Red’s video game Cyberpunk 2077. Studio Trigger is handling the animation, with Kai Ikarashi directing, Bartosz Sztybor returning as showrunner, and Masahiko Otsuka penning the script.

The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners earned widespread acclaim for its frenetic animation style, memorable characters, and emotional twists. The upcoming season aims to match that visual tone with its textured, VHS-inspired aesthetic when it premieres in the fall.
