Cover Reveal – Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Game Informer’s next cover story takes readers inside Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of Lara Croft’s original 1996 adventure, arriving February 12. With the franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the issue includes two features devoted to its enduring legacy.
The team visited Crystal Dynamics to spend several hours playing Legacy of Atlantis, including an exclusive look at its Greece section. In the 12-page cover story, developers from Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog explain why they are revisiting Lara’s landmark debut after previously remaking it as Tomb Raider: Anniversary. They also discuss how the new game differs from earlier versions, the teams’ controversial use of AI development tools, and how it lays groundwork for the upcoming Tomb Raider: Catalyst.
A six-page retrospective explores three decades of Tomb Raider history, with insights from Crystal Dynamics. The anniversary celebration extends to the cover, created by franchise art director Brenoch Adams, which brings together versions of Lara from the Core Design, Legend, Survivor, and current eras.
The December issue also welcomes back the annual holiday buyers guide, packed with gift ideas for the gamers in your life. Readers will also find a selection of family-friendly games to enjoy with younger relatives during holiday gatherings.
Guest contributor Veerender Singh Jubbal examines India’s emerging game development scene and the community helping local titles reach international audiences. Executive editor Brian Shea goes hands-on with a new section of Ryu Ga Gotoku’s Stranger Than Heaven and speaks with its lead designers about the era-spanning Yakuza/Like a Dragon prequel’s story, themes, and historical settings. Senior associate editor Wesley LeBlanc shares his enthusiastic impressions of Murals, a colorful, fairy-tale-inspired adventure from Disney Illusion Island developer Dlala Studios, and talks with the team about the game’s origins.
The issue also features previews of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, Muramasa: Revenant Blades, Fate/Extra Record, Tiny Metal 2, Mr. Records, and Eternal Anima. Reviews include Gears of War: E-Day, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Silent Hill: Downfall, and more.
