Combat tennis, suave punchery and axe-based drawback fixing; the odd games of owch

Here’s a trio of bizarre little games to start out the weekend with from solo developer ‘owch’. Today, they launched 10S, a low-fi mix of shmup and tennis. Beat The Art Breaker is a mysterious third-person brawler journey with satisfying punching and a number of endings. More historically, Long Live The Axe is an more and more surreal platform hack n’ slasher with a little bit of a Sinclair Spectrum vibe. All are properly price a glance, and all three games share a quiet, dream-like vibe – take a peek under for some trailers, demos and extra.

10S is a sports activities shmup with a lightweight roguelike bent to it. After tennis-ing your method by a random wave of monsters, you’ll be requested to select from one among three upgrades. There’s bosses to struggle, oddly eerie music, and in case you don’t just like the look of the game you may hand-pick your individual color palette. Personally, I don’t suppose something aside from comfortable pastel shades are legitimate right here, however it’s your name. There’s a demo on its Itch page here.

Long Live The Axe is a bit more meaty, and oddly charming. It has some odd platforming mechanics (be sure you do the tutorial to discover ways to bounce-jump), weapons that shatter casually and particular person names for each enemy – even the skellingtons. There’s bushes to hit with an axe, as you do. Again, there’s a demo on its Itch page here.

Below is a peek at Beat The Art Breaker, from an earlier construct of the game – the complete game is considerably extra polished. I’d somewhat not spoil it past this video, however I reckon that until its fight turns you off, you’ll need to do that one a number of instances, seeing what you are able to do with or with out violence. There’s a bit extra to it than meets the (black) eye. No demo on this, however, it’s also on Itch.

On prime of all these, owch has a repository of game jam stuff, prototypes and experiments here. I’ve not had an opportunity to attempt any of them but, however Adventures seems to be particularly charming. Also in lively growth and out there for pay-what-you-want on Itch is Water’s Fine, a game of undersea exploration – one I’ll be attempting for myself this weekend. Here’s a peek at it, too.

You can get 10S, Beat The Art Breaker and Long Live The Axe for the on a regular basis value of $4.20, or in a bundle for $10 here on Itch. There are free demos out there for 10S and Long Live The Axe, and Water’s Fine is pay-what-you-want, and might be found on Itch here. You can follow owch on Twitter here.
