Climbing Simulator Cairn to Receive Free DLC in October

The free On the Trail: Deep Water expansion for the climbing simulator Cairn will launch on October 29, 2026, bringing three new locations.

Cairn will receive its first free DLC, On the Trail: Deep Water, on October 29, 2026, adding three locations, a new playable character, and a free roam mode.

The expansion was originally scheduled to release earlier, but the launch was delayed. Developers confirmed the date at TGS. Deep Water introduces the Haken and Hand cliffs featuring overhanging walls above water, where falling is safe so players can experiment with different routes.

The third location is a new training area called Lamu. Marco will also be added as a playable character, featuring a climbing style that differs from Aava.

A free roam mode will be available for both characters. It allows players to load saves at the summit, practice specific sections of a route, and search for alternative paths.

The On the Trail: Deep Water expansion will be free. Cairn is available on Steam with a 20% discount until September 26.
