Civilization 7 Gets Pirate Update — Firaxis Gives New Civilizations Away Free
Civilization 7’s average rating on Steam remains at 47%, meaning players are still dissatisfied. Despite several updates, the overall mood around the project has not shifted.
Firaxis isn’t backing down and continues to refine the game. The studio has revealed the first part of the major Tides of Power expansion, which adds Edward Teach (a.k.a. Blackbeard), the Pirate Republic, and the Kingdom of Tonga. These factions will be free beginning November 4, but the offer runs only until January 5, 2026. The new trailer illustrates how Blackbeard leads his nation.
This is only the beginning: the second installment of Tides of Power will introduce Sa’id al-Hurr, the Ottoman Empire, and Iceland. If you claim the first part by January 5, 2026, the second will be free as well. Firaxis has promised to share full details in early November, including instructions for adding the pack to your account.
