While the LEGO gaming universe has successfully ventured into countless territories, a full-fledged urban simulation always felt like an inevitable match. That long-awaited concept is finally materializing with LEGO Skylines, an upcoming city builder that entrusts players with designing thriving plastic metropolises inhabited by classic minifigures. The game made its grand debut during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live—check out the premiere trailer below:
Development duties are being spearheaded by Iceflake Studios, the team currently steering Cities: Skylines II. Following the departure of original creators Colossal Order from publisher Paradox Interactive in late 2025, Paradox maintained control of the franchise and tapped Iceflake to take the reins. The two entities are now joining forces once more to bring this brick-based simulator to life.
“Master the foundational infrastructure like power grids, food production, and water networks,” reads the official Steam listing. “From there, craft a vibrant metropolis your citizens will adore. Construct neighborhood-envy housing, generate rewarding careers, design lush public parks, or scatter pastry shops across every block just because you can. With a staggering array of architectural styles, decorative elements, and tailoring options, you can shape an urban landscape distinctly your own.”
The brief adds: “LEGO Skylines grants you absolute municipal control. Remember to construct healthcare facilities to patch up ailing citizens, cultivate farmland to supply local businesses, and manage waste disposal and sanitation to ensure your society functions seamlessly.”
A concrete launch window for LEGO Skylines has not yet been confirmed. Upon release, the title is slated to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch successor.
