Christopher Nolan Announces Need for a Break After “Odyssey”

Academy Award-winning director Christopher Nolan has admitted that the production of Odyssey left him physically and creatively drained.

The filmmaker intends to take a hiatus of “at least three years.” This interval aligns with the release cadence of his previous projects, including Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer.

“I have certainly pushed the limits of my own endurance, as well as that of my entire team. Naturally, given that it is Odyssey, it was bound to be arduous. If making Odyssey didn’t feel grueling, then we simply weren’t doing it right,”

— Nolan remarked during an appearance on the Today show.

The adaptation of Homer’s epic poem features an ensemble cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Zendaya. The film was captured entirely on IMAX film cameras. Industry analysts project that the opening weekend for Odyssey could reach or exceed $200 million.
