Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale is reportedly in talks to join the sequel to the crime thriller Heat, according to Deadline.
The specifics of Bale’s role have not been revealed. Leonardo DiCaprio had previously signed on, and Michael Mann is set to return as director. Filming is planned to begin in 2026, and United Artists (Amazon MGM) will handle distribution.
Heat 2 will be adapted from the 2022 novel of the same name by Michael Mann and Meg Gardiner. The story will take place both before and after the events of the original film starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
This spring Bale is scheduled to appear in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s remake of The Bride of Frankenstein. He is also attached to the sports biopic Madden opposite Nicolas Cage.
