Chinese Action RPG Where Winds Meet Surpasses 100 Million Players

NetEase has outlined its plans for the ongoing development of its free-to-play wuxia action game.

NetEase Games and Everstone Studio announced that the player count for the action RPG Where Winds Meet has surpassed 100 million players worldwide. The project reached this milestone ten months after its global release in November 2025. This statistic also includes users from the Chinese version, which launched in late 2024.

Alongside the announcement, the developers shared a trailer for the final Hidden Mountain update, which will be released on September 16. Players will finally encounter Qianye, the person responsible for destroying the protagonist’s home and abducting their loved ones. The third chapter will also add two special enemies, two world bosses, and new activities.

Earlier still, on September 3, Where Winds Meet will add the Bamboo Cut — Draught combat style, which is inspired by Jackie Chan’s drunken master films. Yuen Woo-ping, the choreographer for The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, served as the action choreography consultant.

Other announcements include an extraction mode where players can fight in the open or act stealthily by stealing treasures and avoiding direct clashes, as well as the Ghost Month event, which combines traditional Chinese beliefs and urban legends with horror elements.
