Capcom Entrusted Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen to the Person Who Saved the First Game

Capcom confirmed that Kento Kinoshita is directing Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Kinoshita previously directed the original Dark Arisen expansion for the first game.

Hideaki Itsuno left Capcom in 2024. Many players assumed this departure meant Dragon’s Dogma 2 would not receive major post-launch support, but the announcement of this expansion addressed those concerns.

Kinoshita led the development of the first game’s Dark Arisen expansion. Fans often credit that work with transforming the base game into a standout title.

The new expansion builds on the foundation of its predecessor. It introduces Bitterblack Isle—a high-level area featuring new monsters and a randomized loot system. Players must collect relics to earn rare rewards.

The DLC also adds 12 dangerous dungeons across the map, each containing unique items.
