inZOI Game Director Discusses Next Update as Developers Finish Long-Pending Tasks
Autonomous character behavior will soon see significant improvements.
The creators of the life simulation game inZOI are preparing to release their next update. Project game director Kjun published a developer diary sharing thoughts on the work and outlining upcoming plans.
The developers focused on improving core gameplay systems. For example, autonomous character behavior has been refined so that characters act in accordance with their environment. Basic needs such as sleep and hunger will be met “more naturally,” characters will sit at the same table with loved ones, and those who know how to drive vehicles will get into their own cars and travel to desired locations on their own.
Kjun shared that this update was also supposed to include a “customer service system,” but the developers did not manage to finish it in time:
Next week, a prototype of the system will be ready: customers will arrive, sit at a table, eat, pay for their order, and then leave. More specific scenarios are also being prepared that will prevent establishment owners from casually sitting in customer seats and eating.

Work on inZOI is gradually progressing, and Kjun feels that the team is finally starting to wrap up certain tasks that were set a long time ago:
Perhaps our lives are always filled with such small regrets. It is like walking home after an exam you studied all night for, only to realize you made a mistake on a question you knew the answer to. Or saying goodbye to an old friend you have not seen in years, and then thinking on the way home, “I wish I had said that while I had the chance.” Even when we do our absolute best, there is always a feeling that something is missing. In a way, developing inZOI feels the same. There are things we should have done better from the very beginning, and only now does it feel like we are finally completing some of these long-overdue tasks.
The update for inZOI is expected to release on September 3.
