How to Get the DLC Weapons in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
The DLC weapons in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave give your army a considerable edge, though they come with some trade-offs. You earn them by finishing a fresh subquest, and each of the four playable Flame Lords receives a signature weapon. Carrying those weapons into Part 2 and beyond gets a little tangled if you’ve already wrapped up someone’s Part 1, but the payoff makes the effort worthwhile.
The weapons are exclusive to the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave expansion pass, and they arrived in the game as part of the DLC’s first wave.
Below, you’ll find out how to unlock the DLC weapons in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and what they bring to the battlefield.
How to unlock the DLC weapons in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Once you’ve bought and installed the expansion pass, the game displays a notification about the new weapons. It hints at a subquest but never reveals what it involves, or where and when you can find it. Here’s how it all works.
Every Flame Lord has their own subquest, and it appears the moment the bulletin board in Dagsion becomes accessible. That happens around Chapter 4, although the exact timing varies by character. Dietrich, for instance, has to sit through the city tutorials and a handful of battles before the board opens up. Cai gets through most of that during Chapter 3, so he reaches it sooner.
You won’t miss the moment it unlocks. A parchment icon appears on the map to mark the bulletin board, and it glows gold-orange whenever a new quest is waiting.

The quest itself is over in a flash. Accept it from the bulletin board as soon as you’re able, then track down the shady figure who posted it. You’ll find him in the “streets” section of the city, just northeast of the market stalls, close to where the beast appears during the “Monster in the Night” quest. Talk to him and the Flame Lord’s weapon is yours. Repeat the process for all four Flame Lords if you want the complete set.
The weapons are:
- Prototype I (Sword, Dietrich)
- Prototype V (Axe, Leda)
- Prototype XI (Bow, Theodora)
- Prototype VII (Spear, Cai)
Although the game frames each weapon as though it belongs to a specific Flame Lord, any character can wield them.

These weapons take their inspiration from the Hero’s Relics of Three Houses, and they share a notable weakness: durability far below that of standard weapons. You get fewer combat art uses before the weapon breaks and needs a trip to the blacksmith. Still, the upkeep pays off. Every Prototype weapon can be upgraded to +2, boosting both durability and power, and a fully upgraded one outclasses an iron weapon enhanced to the same level.
If you’ve already finished a Flame Lord’s Part 1, we suggest replaying their Chapter 12 to claim the Prototype weapon. As with any change made during Part 1, you must complete that part’s final chapter for it to carry over into Parts 2 and 3. For anyone who has already cleared Part 1, it’s much quicker and simpler to grab the weapon in Chapter 12, finish the chapter, and then pick up where you left off.
