A statue of the fictional heroine Bridget Jones has been unveiled in Leicester Square, London.
Renée Zellweger, who portrays the character on screen, and author Helen Fielding attended the unveiling. The bronze sculpture was erected to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the publication of the first Bridget Jones novel.
“It looks very sweet. Strange, but genuinely charming,” Zellweger remarked of the statue.
Screen adaptations of Fielding’s books began in 2001. The most recent film, “Mad About the Boy,” premiered in February 2025.
