Sony has not officially revealed the refreshed PS5 Pro, but a comprehensive teardown of the console has surfaced. In a video by well-known tech creator Austin Evans, all of the structural and technical updates to the new PS5 Pro are explored.
The company appears to be quietly rolling out updated PlayStation 5 Slim and Pro models without a formal launch event. After details about the PS5 Slim emerged, the Pro has now come under scrutiny.
Externally, the PS5 Pro is largely unchanged compared to the base model: the glossy black panel remains instead of the matte finish used on the PS5 Slim. That will likely disappoint those hoping for a visible redesign.
Internally, there are meaningful improvements: the new Pro consumes less power, which lowers operating temperatures and reduces fan noise. The console is slightly lighter, and the cooling system runs more evenly. According to Evans, the fan now emits a more pleasant tone, although the improvement is modest.
An updated DualSense ships with the console, but it has a few drawbacks: the battery is still non-removable, and one of the microphones has been removed, which could affect voice-chat clarity and team features. The rest of the controller’s features remain unchanged.
