Blizzard Reveals First Look at World of Warcraft’s Next Major Expansion

Fresh off unveiling an exciting first look at World of Warcraft: Midnight‘s upcoming major update, titled Eclipse, Blizzard Entertainment gave fans a breathtaking glimpse into the distant future of the MMORPG at BlizzCon 2026. During the grand opening ceremony, a brief yet atmospheric teaser for World of Warcraft: The Last Titan set the stage for the dramatic conclusion of the ambitious Worldsoul Saga.

Taking the stage at BlizzCon 2026, Executive Producer and Vice President Holly Longdale promised an unforgettable year for the franchise before handing the microphone to Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, who detailed what players can expect from the forthcoming Eclipse update.

World of Warcraft: Midnight — Eclipse

According to Hazzikostas, the cinematic trailer for Eclipse depicts the formidable antagonist Xal’atath dangerously close to achieving her ultimate ambitions. He noted that after carefully positioning the narrative pieces across The War Within and Midnight, the storytelling is shifting into high gear with no plans of slowing down.

Following the Eclipse showcase, Hazzikostas offered a tantalizing preview of The Last Titan, though he cautioned the audience that details would remain sparse to preserve the monumental narrative surprises leading up to the events of Midnight.

World of Warcraft: The Last Titan

While comprehensive insights into The Last Titan won’t arrive until after the launch of Eclipse early next year, Longdale hinted that the expansion will genuinely “put the war back in Warcraft.”

Marking the twelfth major expansion in the storied history of World of Warcraft, The Last Titan is currently slated for release in 2027.
