Battlefield 6 developers suggested a way to fix PC stuttering — just open your Steam friends list and go offline

The recent “Winter Offensive” update for Battlefield 6 has sparked strong community backlash. Players began reporting issues with the main menu as well as in-match freezes.
The Battlefield 6 development team is aware of the problem and is preparing a patch. In the meantime, they recommend trying a community-suggested workaround:
One solution that some Steam users report helps: open your friends list and set your status to “Offline”. If you play through Steam, try this while we investigate the issue and work on a full fix.
In practice, this workaround seems to remove the freezes in Battlefield 6 for some players.
