Bandai Namco’s New RPG Reveal Has Officially Piqued Our Interest

Bandai Namco is fueling anticipation with a cryptic teaser for a mysterious new role-playing project set to be unveiled this Thursday. While enthusiasts might be dreaming of a fresh announcement from FromSoftware or a new Tales installment, current evidence suggests those hopes may be misplaced. Though the project remains shrouded in secrecy, several high-profile possibilities can already be discounted.

Aside from confirming the genre and offering a fleeting, enigmatic glimpse of gameplay, the publisher has provided only two substantial clues: the ominous slogan “A serenity soon to be disturbed” and a uniquely stylized “L” featured within the word “reveal.” The powerhouse behind iconic franchises like Tekken and Elden Ring has scheduled the full disclosure for Thursday, March 5, at 3 p.m. PST / 6 p.m. EST.

Speculation within the RPG community is currently split. Many point toward a potential Sword Art Online title, noting the visual cues in the trailer and the time elapsed since Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream. Others posit that Bandai Namco is finally ready to expand the Scarlet Nexus IP. The original game garnered a dedicated following upon its 2021 release, eventually spawning a standalone anime adaptation by studio Sunrise.

Based on the aesthetic direction shown so far, a new FromSoftware title seems unlikely, as the developer is currently occupied with The Duskbloods and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. Furthermore, fans shouldn’t expect a Code Vein follow-up or a new Tales entry so soon, given the recent launches of Code Vein 2 and the Tales of Berseria remaster. Another long shot is CyberConnect2’s .hack//ZERO; although Bandai Namco holds the rights to the franchise, that specific project is slated for self-publication.

Perhaps the most intriguing theory involves a modern revival of The Tower of Druaga. This speculation stems from the prominent white spire featured in the footage. Originally a 1984 arcade classic described as a “fantasy Pac-Man,” the series was heavily influenced by early tabletop gaming. A high-budget reimagining of this Babylonian legend for 2026 would certainly be a bold move for the publisher.

The mystery will finally reach its conclusion this Thursday. Until then, the floor is open for final predictions.
