During a recent livestream with Ayaneo’s CEO Arthur Zhang, viewers were offered a closer look at the Pocket Vert handheld — a vertical portable console that will run Android and features a 3.5-inch LCD with a 1600×1400 resolution.

Ayaneo CEO Arthur Zhang hosted a livestream focused on the Pocket Vert vertical handheld console.

The unit is offered in three finishes and sports a 3.5-inch LCD with a 1600×1400 resolution and a pixel density of 615 PPI — roughly ten times the Nintendo Game Boy’s pixel-for-pixel resolution.

In addition to unmarked face buttons and a minimalist D-pad, the Pocket Vert conceals a touchpad beneath the glass front panel. The pad stretches across the device’s full width and sits under the D-pad and action buttons. It can be configured to act as the left stick, the right stick, or both simultaneously.

Ayaneo previously used a trackpad on the Pocket DMG, but this implementation is fully hidden and unobtrusive when not in use. The Pocket Vert also inherits the side-mounted MagicSwitch wheel from the DMG: it adjusts volume like the original Game Boy, mutes the audio when pressed, and opens a function menu when held.

The display sits behind a single sheet of glass and the chassis is crafted from premium metal. The Pocket Vert is equipped with a 6000 mAh battery.

Unfortunately, Arthur Zhang did not reveal full technical specifications or a pre-order date, but he did play several games on the Pocket Vert during the stream. You can watch the recording on YouTube here: part one, part two.
