Avengers Endgame Encore Leaks Reveal Doomsday Plot Details

Six years after its theatrical debut, Avengers: Endgame returns to cinemas with an extended version called Avengers: Endgame Encore. This version is four minutes longer than the original. Encore officially debuts on Sept. 25, but some early screenings are already happening in certain parts of the world. Fans planning to watch the movie in theaters should be wary of spoilers.

Many accounts started posting additional scenes from Avengers: Endgame Encore as early as Sept. 23 after moviegoers illegally recorded them during screenings. The additional footage ties into the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday, which hits theaters on Dec. 18. Anyone planning to attend screenings of Encore should stop reading now because the scenes leaked in their entirety.

Online reports state that the movie features three entirely new scenes setting up the multiversal crisis at the center of Avengers: Doomsday.

The original ending scene of Steve Rogers played by Chris Evans and Peggy Carter played by Hayley Atwell dancing has been altered. Steve Rogers traveled to the past to spend a lifetime with his love, but Loki played by Tom Hiddleston now shows up at the door. This likely explains how Captain America returns in Doomsday in his prime rather than as an old man since Loki is now the keeper of time and an ally of the Time Variance Authority.

The Time Variance Authority also appears in the middle of the credits of Encore with a new scene set in its central control hub. Mobius M. Mobius played by Owen Wilson shows up for what he thinks will be a regular day at work. He discovers that thousands of universes are dying in incursions where two universes collide with each other.

A post-credit scene lets fans catch up with Bruce Banner played by Mark Ruffalo after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Banner is imprisoned in an underground facility that he hopes will contain his alter ego Hulk while he conducts experiments with gamma energy. An unexpected visitor then appears as Doctor Doom played by Robert Downey Jr. Doctor Doom does not appear on screen, but he says one line that is barely intelligible in the leaks, leading fans to various interpretations. Banner disappears, and the symbol of Latveria is carved on the floor of his room.

What do the new Avengers: Endgame scenes tell us about Doomsday?

The biggest new information is that Hulk may appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which is good news for fans of the original Avengers lineup. Doctor Doom could have other plans for Bruce Banner, so nothing is definitive. The scenes confirm that incursions work like they did in the Marvel Comics storyline “Time Runs Out” that inspired Doomsday. One of the two colliding universes can try to destroy the other to avoid mutual annihilation, or both universes are doomed. Loki appears to have recruited Steve Rogers to help stop the incursions or Doctor Doom.

The new scenes successfully set up the upcoming Avengers movie and build a stronger connection with Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame Encore officially debuts on Sept. 25. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for a Dec. 18 release in theaters.
