Attack on Titan Studio Teases New Project
Attack on Titan finished its run in 2023, but more pain and suffering may be on the horizon. WIT Studio revealed that it has an Attack on Titan-related announcement coming on Aug. 20. The company posted a cryptic message stating, “It seems that they, during ‘that period,’ will be holding a special dinner.” A promotional image accompanied the post, featuring Eren, Armin, Mikasa, Levi, Hange, and Erwin. The visual is attributed to manga author Isayama Hajime, publisher Kodansha, and the Attack on Titan The Final Season Production Committee, which funded the anime’s 35-episode final season across multiple parts and specials.
The announcement is surprising for a few reasons. The anime already fully adapted Isayama’s manga with its Final Season. The anime’s finale also received a compilation film titled The Last Attack, which combined the series’ last two specials with an extra sequence.
Another unexpected element is that this announcement came from WIT Studio, which has not been the series’ primary animation studio since 2019. WIT Studio handled the show’s first 59 episodes before MAPPA took over production for the Final Season, which ran from 2020 to 2023. Since then, WIT Studio has worked on shows like Spy x Family and Ranking of Kings.
The reveal aligns with comments made last year by Attack on Titan producer Tetsuya Kinoshita. During the premiere of Attack on Titan – The Official Concert – Beyond the Walls World Tour, he stated that the team plans to continue creating films like Last Attack, concerts, and various game collaborations moving forward. The video game Attack on Titan 3 launches on Dec. 10, though no official anime projects are currently announced.

The post’s cryptic mention of a “special dinner” might refer to the series’ theme of cannibalism. The phrase “that period” leaves the timeline of the new project uncertain. If the teaser image provides a clue, the project could be a prequel set before the Final Season when all six featured characters were still alive. Fans must wait until next Thursday to learn the truth.
