Attack on Titan Set to Return Officially on December 9

Attack on Titan may have reached its conclusion, but the celebrated saga is about to make a comeback. Attack on Titan 3, from Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force and publisher Koei Tecmo, arrives on Dec. 9. It gives anime and manga fans another way to experience the grim, post-apocalyptic dark fantasy.

This is the first new Attack on Titan game in more than eight years. Because the series is now complete, the game can adapt the whole manga, including its divisive finale. You won’t play as Eren, Armin, or Mikasa, though. You’ll move through the story as a customizable original character.

The complete Attack on Titan saga, retold

The game’s official description reads as follows:

This title gathers the Attack on Titan game series into a single package, letting you live the story from start to finish. Alongside fresh story developments, you’ll face intense new battles against the Nine Titans, who appear in a game for the first time. Beloved moments from earlier entries have also been rebuilt for a renewed experience.

The official release date is Dec. 10, but PC players on Steam can start one day early. Koei Tecmo opened pre-orders in August and revealed a physical SteelBook edition alongside a Digital Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes cosmetic DLC and a digital art book. It also gives 72 hours of early access on every platform except Nintendo Switch 2. Players who still have Attack on Titan 2 save data on their systems will also receive an in-game bonus.

These announcements should give fans plenty to look forward to. Even so, it’s a letdown that we have to wait until December to play.

Attack on Titan 3 will face stiff Japanese-developed competition that month, including Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. It launches on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. That likely makes it one of the last major AAA releases in an especially crowded fall 2026 for the games industry.
