ANOMALITH Horror Demo Becomes Unexpected Hit Outside Japan

The demo was released last week and will be available until August 7.

Japanese publisher FuRyu announced that the limited-time Steam demo for the action game ANOMALITH has drawn unexpectedly high interest from western audiences. The response was strong enough for the developers to reach out directly to players and ask what specifically interested them in the project.

According to FuRyu, just a few days after the launch, the developers noticed a sharp increase in Steam wishlist additions and new social media followers outside of Japan.

This level of overseas interest came as a surprise to FuRyu because the company’s projects are typically tailored primarily for the domestic market. The developers now want to understand what specifically drove such high engagement, whether it is the visual style, the combination of Showa-era nostalgia with a backrooms concept, the gameplay, or other features of the project.
