Analysts Compile List of Games That Desperately Need a Remake — or at Least a Remaster

“Owners of intellectual property sit atop a rich trove of material primed for remakes and remasters.”

Ampere Analysis has shortlisted 18 video games it considers to have strong potential for successful remakes or remasters. In a presentation, senior analyst Katy Holt highlighted that IP holders “are sitting on a cache of content ready for reboots”, and clarified that the list is not comprehensive.

Ampere previously reported that, over the past two years, players spent twice as much on remakes as on remasters. The study found that remakes and remasters released in 2024–2025 attracted 72.4 million players across Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam, and generated roughly $1.4 billion in combined premium-game and microtransaction revenue.
