Analysis Details Performance and Graphics Tricks in Phantom Blade Zero
Phantom Blade Zero intentionally lowers its default image resolution, which causes the visuals to appear blurry.
Content creator Daniel Owen analyzed the technical side of the Unreal Engine 5 game. Despite praising the PlayStation 5 version for its attractive graphics and stable 60 FPS, PC players raised questions regarding image quality.
When selecting a 1440p resolution, Phantom Blade Zero sets the Super Resolution Output Scale parameter to 85% by default, effectively reducing the rendering resolution. On a PC with an RTX 3060, Owen achieved around 70 FPS using DLSS Performance at 1440p with scaling set to 100%. With DLSS Quality, performance dropped to approximately 60 FPS while the image became noticeably sharper.
All tests were conducted with ray tracing disabled, as the developers included a high-quality static lighting system.
If I set it to 1440p, the game doesn’t render the image in 1440p by default. […] In my opinion, before disabling this option, the picture was overly blurry.
