Following Amazon Prime’s decision to move forward with a live-action Life Is Strange adaptation last autumn, the production has officially secured its lead stars. The search for the iconic protagonists of the 2015 narrative adventure has concluded, with two rising talents stepping into the roles of Max Caulfield and Chloe Price.
As reported by Variety, Tatum Grace Hopkins has been tapped to play Max, while Maisy Stella will inhabit the role of Chloe. This project marks the television debut for Hopkins, a seasoned stage performer known for her work in Broadway’s The Queen of Versailles. Stella, conversely, brings a wealth of screen experience, having starred as Daphne Conrad in the musical drama Nashville and recently appearing in the 2024 feature My Old Ass. She is also slated to appear in the upcoming comedy Poetic License.

The series is expected to faithfully mirror the narrative arc of the original game. The official synopsis describes Max as a photography student who discovers an extraordinary ability to rewind time while intervening in a fatal incident involving her estranged childhood friend, Chloe. As the two reunite, they are drawn into a gritty investigation regarding a missing student, eventually uncovering the sinister underbelly of their coastal town and facing a devastating choice that will reshape their reality.
The adaptation is being steered by showrunner and executive producer Charlie Covell, the creative mind behind Netflix hits like The End of the F***ing World and Kaos. While a Life Is Strange television project has been in various stages of development since 2016—originally with Legendary Television—it has finally gained significant traction under the Amazon MGM Studios banner. While a release window remains unannounced, the production is finally gaining momentum after years of anticipation.
This casting update arrives at a pivotal moment for the franchise. On March 26, the gaming world will see the launch of Life is Strange: Reunion, a new entry that marks the return of Max Caulfield’s story. The TV series is part of Amazon’s aggressive expansion into gaming intellectual property, joining a slate that includes the highly anticipated God of War series, which recently offered fans a glimpse of its own lead cast in character.
