Ace Frehley, the legendary guitarist and one of Kiss’s founding members, has died at the age of 74. His passing came a week after a message on his official Instagram account announced the cancellation of all 2025 shows for health reasons — he was unable to recover.
Frehley went down in rock history as one of Kiss’s four original members and became iconic for his “Spaceman” persona. He played with the band from 1973 until 1982, then focused on solo endeavors. In 1978 each member released a solo record, and Frehley’s album proved the best-selling among them. He rejoined Kiss in 1996 and remained with the group for another six years.
Gamers were also familiar with his work — his guitar parts have been featured in Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and the Kiss image has appeared in games like Kiss Pinball and Kiss Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child.
The music world now says goodbye to Ace Frehley — a man whose energy and distinctive style inspired not only rock fans but generations of gamers as well.
