Rayman 2: The Great Escape — widely regarded as one of the standout 3D platformers from the Nintendo 64 era — will arrive on Nintendo Switch Online on December 17.

As shown in a retro-styled trailer, Nintendo is adding both Rayman 2 and Tonic Trouble — another 3D platformer from Ubisoft veteran and Rayman creator Michel Ancel — to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack library. Both titles join the Nintendo Classics collection, bringing older N64-era games to subscribers next week.

Originally released for the N64 in 1999, Rayman 2 has been ported to numerous platforms over the years, including PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, iOS, and — most recently — as a launch title for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. Its enduring appeal speaks to tight controls and imaginative level design that still hold up today. You can buy Rayman 2 for PC on GOG for just a few dollars, but Switch Online + Expansion Pack members will get the game at no extra charge when it launches on the service.

Tonic Trouble never reached the same critical heights as Rayman 2 and is a bit more obscure, but it’s also joining the N64 collection on the same day — a neat dose of polygonal nostalgia if you’re after some holiday retro gaming.
