A RuneScape Animated Series Is Coming With a World-Famous Content Creator Attached
Alongside the revelation that RuneScape 4 is officially in development at Jagex, fresh announcements fresh out of RuneFest reveal that the legendary MMORPG is set to receive an animated screen adaptation. While specific plot points remain scarce, we know the project is being helmed by Lyrical Animation, a specialized division of the independent film studio Lyrical Media.
The studio’s impressive cinematic portfolio features acclaimed titles such as Bruiser, The Death of Robin Hood, and Onslaught. Notably, the production company is also spearheading the upcoming Bloodborne animated film, as well as Death Stranding: Mosquito, an ambitious movie project inspired by Kojima Productions’ celebrated gaming franchise.
That is not the only exciting surprise: the upcoming RuneScape animated series is being developed in close collaboration with Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White, one of the most prominent and influential content creators in the digital landscape. During an exclusive virtual pre-briefing leading up to RuneFest, a Jagex representative emphasized that partnering with White was a natural choice because he is a dedicated, max-level veteran and longtime enthusiast of the franchise, making this enterprise a true passion project for everyone involved.
“Additionally, Jagex unveiled plans to transcend traditional gaming boundaries, partnering with prominent internet personality Charlie White—widely known as MoistCr1TiKaL—alongside acclaimed Los Angeles-based production house Lyrical Media, to breathe life into the lore, characters, and vibrant landscapes of Gielinor through an electrifying new animated adaptation,” states the official press release.

While the exact scope of White’s creative responsibilities remains under wraps, he is no stranger to the broader entertainment landscape. His past credentials include appearing as an extra in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, portraying himself across numerous web series, providing voice acting for various dubbed anime projects and video games, and currently partnering directly with Lyrical Animation on an upcoming feature film adaptation of his own graphic novel series, Godslap.
