Gameplay Footage of Marvel’s Wolverine Emulated on PC Shows Performance Approaching 30 FPS
Performance is gradually improving, but it is still far from ideal.
Marvel’s Wolverine was released on PlayStation 5 in mid-September. The new game from studio Insomniac Games is not officially available on PC, but players have nonetheless been able to test the title on computers using an emulator called KyTyPS5.
Initially, the game only booted to the menu on KyTyPS5, but over time developers managed to reach actual gameplay. Tech enthusiasts are steadily resolving performance issues, and recently Unreal Gaming PC, the creator of a YouTube channel, shared footage of a new Marvel’s Wolverine test on PC where he managed to achieve over 20 FPS.
The test was conducted on a PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor paired with an Asus ROG Strix OC GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card.
Even so, it is too early to celebrate. During action sequences, the framerate is unstable, making the action resemble a slide show. At times, the framerate in Marvel’s Wolverine drops to 1 to 3 FPS.
Tech enthusiasts managed to go from simply booting the Demon’s Souls remake on an emulator to achieving 30 to 40+ FPS in roughly a few months, so some players are hoping that Marvel’s Wolverine can follow a similar path.
