Krogh said the team set themselves a clear brief: to produce the best weapon-handling system they’ve built so far.
“Above all, we wanted a system that’s solid both mechanically and technically, but that also feels fluid and responsive,” he added.
In Hitman, being spotted while trespassing usually spells disaster — guards pursue aggressively and the odds turn sharply against you. Bond still engages in stealth, but when situations escalate he’s more inclined to respond with gunfire than Agent 47 would be.
“Our goal is that even if you try to play stealthily and things go wrong, you’ll adapt your approach and still have a rewarding experience fighting your way out of it,” Krogh said.
IOI has been careful to differentiate 007: First Light from Hitman, saying over the summer that their interpretation of a James Bond game isn’t an Uncharted-style action title, nor is it simply a reskinned Hitman.
The developers examined all the source material to shape their version of James Bond and capture his core “Bondliness,” while avoiding a straight retelling.
