Xbox Series X|S Get AMD FSR 4.1.2 for Improved Image Quality
AMD has officially added FSR Upscaling 4.1.2 support for Xbox Series X|S, giving developers new tools to improve image quality without a significant performance cost.
The technology arrived with the October 2026 update to the Microsoft Game Development Kit. For the first time, developers can use machine learning-based image upscaling on both consoles. Previously, they had to rely on older versions of FidelityFX Super Resolution. The new solution was developed with the Xbox team and optimized for Series X and Series S.
The update introduces two upscaling options. Full INT8 is designed for maximum image quality, while the lighter Lite INT8 takes up less than half the space and requires fewer computing resources. Both are available on Microsoft’s consoles, and a dedicated AMD tool lets developers compare them in real time.

Developers also have access to the familiar AMD FSR SDK, with Native AA, Quality, Balanced, Performance, and Ultra Performance modes. The ROG Xbox Ally, Ally X, and Ally X2 handhelds are also supported, making it easier to move the technology between platforms.
FSR 4.1.2 will not increase the Xbox’s hardware power, but it will help make more efficient use of its existing resources.
