Xbox Support has confirmed that the issues affecting the Red Dead Redemption upgrade on Xbox Series consoles stem from the game’s developer, who is actively working to resolve the problem.
The surprise announcement of a remastered Red Dead Redemption caught many who expected a similar upgrade for the sequel off guard. For several days, numerous players have reported being unable to migrate from the backward-compatible version to the new port, even though the patch should be available.
A Reddit user said they contacted Xbox Support, and Microsoft forwarded the reports to the game’s developers. Support’s response indicates that Rockstar and their partner Double Eleven are investigating the issue and working on a fix, which suggests the problem originates with the patch rather than the Xbox platform.
The situation remains somewhat unclear. In an earlier reply, Rockstar suggested players might have to pay for the updated version, while Xbox Support says work on the release of a corrected update is ongoing.
Some players already have access to the upgrade, but availability is inconsistent. Xbox Support recommends that players monitor updates over the next few days to receive the fixed version.
