Back in 2008, LEGO released a set titled “The Joker’s Ice Cream Surprise,” which features the Caped Crusader’s archenemy in an extremely colorful ice cream truck. What makes this set stand out is that it is themed around The Dark Knight, as Batman’s figure sports the same design as the movie and is driving the heavily armored Batmobile, the Tumbler. This likely explains why “The Joker’s Ice Cream Surprise” is so popular, as LEGO collector site BrickEconomy lists the set with a whopping price tag of $1,243. That is over 20 times its original price, which speaks to how popular LEGO Batman remains.

More LEGO Batman sets from 2008 are rising in value

“The Joker’s Ice Cream Surprise” is not the only LEGO Batman set from 2008 that will fetch owners a pretty penny. Other sets that are rising in value include “Robin’s Scuba Jet — Attack of The Penguin,” which gives the Boy Wonder his own vehicle while pitting him against the Penguin, and “Batman’s Buggy — The Escape of Mr. Freeze,” another chase-themed set that features Batman chasing down Mr. Freeze in a rocket-powered buggy. Perhaps the only set that can rival “The Joker’s Ice Cream Surprise” is an exclusive set from San Diego Comic-Con 2008 that features Batman and the Joker, which commands about $785.

The reason for the surge in popularity of LEGO Batman sets is twofold. Firstly, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight turned out to be one of the best games of 2026, featuring everything you would love from a LEGO game while touching on Batman’s long history.
