World of Warcraft Game Director Comments on Rumors of a Console Version
Rumors have circulated for some time that Blizzard intends to launch an MMO on Sony and Microsoft gaming consoles.
A few years ago, World of Warcraft franchise vice president Holly Longdale mentioned that Activision Blizzard had been in talks with Microsoft about bringing WoW to consoles.
However, game director Ion Hazzikostas has now strongly denied fan theories that the accessibility changes planned for the upcoming Midnight expansion are meant to lay the groundwork for a console release.
To be fully transparent, we have no reason to hide anything. If we were actively working on porting World of Warcraft to consoles or other platforms, we would say so plainly: “We’re working on it — there’s much to do, but that’s the direction we want to head.” For now, our focus remains on the PC experience.
